Spotlight On: ChatterPix Kids in 3rd Grade Spanish

Spotlight On: ChatterPix Kids in 3rd Grade Spanish

Tina Brown, elementary Spanish teacher at the Glover Elementary School, has started to integrate iPads into her Spanish lessons and the results are amazing!

Señora Brown created a project where 3rd grade students were asked to 1) draw a picture of an animal, 2) write a first person dialogue from the point of view of the animal using at least three adjectives,  3) record the animal describing itself using ChatterPix Kids, and 4) share their video with their classmates.

Señora Brown created the following "App Task Card" as a way to provide the 3rd grade students with the lesson directions.  App Task Cards are a great way to display the steps to a project, especially when images are included to show a picture of the app being used in a lesson.  App Task Cards can be displayed on an interactive whiteboard and they can be printed out for students to check off the steps as they complete them.

Below is a student example of the 3rd Grade Spanish Animal Project using ChatterPix Kids.

It has been a fun experience to collaborate with the elementary Spanish teachers as they integrate technology into the Spanish classroom! Keep your eye out for more exciting projects to come!

Welcome to my new blog... Elementary Tech 411

Last year I really enjoyed creating the monthly newsletters that provided technology information.  I decided that a blog would be a better venue to share technology integration ideas for the elementary classroom.

In this blog I will share ideas for using devices like iPads and Chromebooks in the classrooms. I will share apps for different subjects and project ideas and how to use them with your students.  I will also share what other educators across the district are doing with technology.

Whether you are new to using technology or consider yourself to be tech savvy, here are my thoughts on integrating technology...

When using technology don't be afraid to try something new.  It's ok to fail, as long as you learn from the experience.  If you try and it doesn't work, then rethink the process or the activity.  What were the pros and cons? Make some changes or adjustments, and try it again!
